Ramadan has always been a season powered by connection, creativity, and celebration. But today, it is also a season of conversations that begin early, carry emotional weight, and influence decisions in ways traditional advertising never could. Preparation for the key cultural moment often begins months in advance. During this time, people seek interaction, not interruption. Private messaging has become a daily habit for most of the world, with nine in ten customers preferring to contact businesses that way. The lesson for advertisers is clear: the most effective promotions are moving into conversations.

As consumers become increasingly selective with their attention, they gravitate toward experiences that seamlessly integrate into their digital routines. During Ramadan, brands that meet people in their trusted spaces can earn attention through relevance and personalisation, rather than volume or frequency. Conversational advertising transforms the chat thread into the stage for engagement. The message is visual, direct, and easy to act on, but the key difference is control.

The user decides whether to open it, reply, or ignore it, turning every interaction into a choice rather than an interruption. Success is measured by usefulness, not just reach, reinforcing that real impact comes from interaction, not intrusion.

All about being genuine

People are more receptive to brand messages when they feel a sense of belonging to the context and do not interrupt private moments. When it feels more like a message from a brand, not a billboard, this creates space for a genuine value exchange. When advertising provides something useful, entertaining, or timely, it becomes part of the conversation, not an interruption to it.

This utility extends across the funnel. In one placement, a brand can reach broadly in the inbox, spark consideration when someone chooses to view, and enable action with an in-message call-to-action. A product drop, a store locator, a limited offer, a reminder to finish a purchase, or a customer service reply can all live in the same conversational flow. Fewer steps mean less friction and clearer outcomes.

As technology evolves, AI will take this even further. Advances in large language models (LLMs) will automate real-time interactions, turning one-way ads into instant, two-way exchanges. Imagine asking a retailer if an item is available in your size, receiving a live stock update, seeing nearby store options, and completing a purchase, all without leaving the chat.

Brands will be able to adapt messages dynamically based on intent and context, keeping the experience simple and relevant. A streaming service, for example, could have one of its most popular characters start a conversation with audiences to promote a new season, and even reply in character. Technology enables the exchange, but the principle remains the same: respect the person’s control and keep the interaction genuinely helpful.

A cultural fit

Utility depends on cultural fit, and in MENA, that means adapting language, tone, and timing to each community. Conversational formats make this easy, allowing for precise localisation without heavy production. A message can reflect local holidays, dialects, or traditions while using the same simple framework.

When messages feel personal and respectful, they build trust over time, which is the ultimate currency in advertising.

The shift to conversation is not about chasing new buzzwords. It is about recognising that Ramadan is social, visual, and collaborative by nature. When those basics are right, meaningful results follow. The future of advertising is not louder; it is more helpful. Put the message where people already talk. Make it clear, make it optional, and let the conversation do the work.

Article Summary
The UAE and Bahrain have launched a pilot "One-Point Air Travelers" project, streamlining travel for citizens between the two countries. The initiative uses pre-departure clearance with biometric verification and data processing to reduce waiting times at Zayed and Bahrain International Airports. It aims to boost tourism, trade, security, and regional integration within the GCC.

The UAE has officially launched the pilot phase of the “One-Point Air Travelers” Project with the Kingdom of Bahrain, marking a significant step toward seamless regional mobility.

Announced on Monday, February 16, the initiative is designed to facilitate travel for citizens of both countries by reducing waiting times and streamlining procedures at participating airports.

The project is also expected to enhance tourism and trade flows, support economic growth, strengthen security stability, and advance infrastructure integration between the two nations, according to a WAM report.

In the UAE, the project is being implemented by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. In Bahrain, it is overseen by the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and other relevant entities. The pilot phase currently covers Zayed International Airport and Bahrain International Airport.

How the system works

The “One-Point Air Travelers” Project enables pre-departure clearance for Emirati and Bahraini citizens flying between the two countries. Through advanced electronic connectivity, biometric verification systems, surveillance technologies, e-gates, and sophisticated passenger data processing, travelers’ movements are verified and documented before they arrive at their final destination.

This allows passengers to complete entry procedures at their departure airport, significantly reducing congestion and accelerating arrival processes. Officials say the system will provide a smoother, more secure, and more comfortable travel experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Strengthening regional integration

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, director-general of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, described the initiative as a landmark move for the region.

“The ‘One-Point Air Travelers’ Project represents an innovative initiative reflecting the commitment of GCC countries to facilitating passenger journeys and providing a safe and convenient travel experience,” he said.

Al Khaili emphasised the authority’s commitment to expanding cooperation at local, regional, and international levels through electronic connectivity and advanced data exchange systems. He noted that such efforts enhance customer journeys while improving overall quality of life.

He added that the project is expected to increase tourism and bilateral trade between the UAE and Bahrain, as well as across the GCC more broadly. By transforming both airports into key departure hubs, the initiative aims to stimulate travel, tourism, and broader economic activity. It also reinforces customs and security integration, boosts regional competitiveness, and positions both airports as preferred transit gateways.

A model for smart mobility

Mohammed Ahmed Al Kuwaiti, acting director-general of Ports at the Authority, said the One-Stop Travel Project reflects the high level of strategic integration between the two nations.

“It embodies a shared vision to facilitate mobility, enhance the travel experience for citizens, and improve quality of life through smart solutions driven by digital transformation and governmental integration,” he said.

Al Kuwaiti stressed that electronic connectivity and the advance exchange of integrated data ensure accuracy, security, and procedural efficiency while safeguarding privacy and data protection.

He described the initiative as a “qualitative step toward the future of smart mobility within the GCC” and a scalable model for broader regional implementation.

Operating hours during Ramadan will run from 5:00pm to 1:00am from Sunday to Wednesday, and until 2:00am from Thursday to Saturday.

Ramadan-themed gathering space

In addition to ticket discounts, Global Village has introduced Multaqa Global Village, a Ramadan-themed gathering space with free entry, designed as a communal area for families and groups. The space will host games and offer access to food and beverage options across the destination.

The Ramadan programming lineup includes live entertainment and cultural performances, including the Al Mandoos show on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30pm between February 20 and March 7. Disney and Paramount Skydance have sent cease-and-desist letters to ByteDance, alleging copyright infringement in its Seedance 2.0 AI video generator. Disney claims unauthorized use of its characters, including Spider-Man and Darth Vader, to train the AI. Disney has sent a cease-and-desist letter to ByteDance accusing the Chinese company of using Disney characters to train and power its Seedance 2.0 AI video generator without permission, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Disney said ByteDance had pre‑packaged Seedance with a pirated library of copyrighted characters from franchises including Star Wars and Marvel, portraying them as if they were public-domain clip art, the person said.

The letter alleges Seedance is reproducing, distributing and creating derivative works featuring Spider-Man, Darth Vader, and other characters, the person added.

ByteDance will strengthen safeguards on its Seedance 2.0 AI video tool to prevent the unauthorised use of copyrighted characters and celebrity likenesses, the Chinese firm told the BBC on Sunday.

ByteDance did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Online news outlet Axios was the first to report on Disney’s move. Paramount Skydance has also sent a cease-and-desist letter to ByteDance, accusing the Chinese firm of engaging in “blatant infringement” of its intellectual property, Variety reported at the weekend.

Videos generated by Seedance 2.0, which was released last week, have gone viral in China including one of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in a fight. The AI model has been compared to DeepSeek and has been praised for its ability to produce cinematic storylines with just a few prompts.

Disney has taken similar actions against Character.AI, demanding that the startup immediately stop the unauthorised use of its copyrighted characters.

In December, Disney signed a licensing deal with OpenAI, letting the startup use characters from Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel franchises in its Sora video generator.
